When night falls, Hoi An puts on it a very different beauty, which is really glamorous.
The first place you can visit in Hoi An at night is Bridge Pagoda (Japanese Bridge). This bridge was built in 17th century, which is a highly dear and unique imagery of Hoi An. It is radiated by colorful lights, which change colors constantly when night comes. You will encounter many married couples taking wedding photos and children selling flower lanterns on this bridge at night.
Another crowded, merry and bustling place is the night culinary zone. Street vendors serve customers simply but thoughtful on several tables and chairs beside the bank of Hoai river. You will feel that you seemingly come back to the Hoi An in the past. At this culinary zone, people usually sell local specialties such as “cao lầu”, “cơm gà” (chicken rice) and “mì quảng” (noodle) with reasonable prices. You can enjoy these delicious dishes while contemplating Hoai river.
After 6p.m, the ancient town starts to light up. At this time, candles in flower lanterns also begin to sparkle. Strolling near the bank of Hoai river at night, at the area of Japanese Bridge and An Hoi Bridge, you will find lovely children wearing “áo dài” and conical hat, taking in hand a flat winnowing basket of many flower lanterns for sale.
Right near An Hoi Bridge, there is a large yard. Every night, this place is animated with the game “bai choi” – an interesting folk game. You can join it by the way of purchasing a card. Then you just sit down and listen to the game-holders singing fold songs. These songs will finish at a name of a card. If you possess this card, you will be the winner and received a present.
At night, Bach Dang street is shimmering by golden lamplights emitted up from old blocks of houses. Hoai river’s surface is also glistening. Just at the corner of this street, Hoi An is compared as Venice of Vietnam. Bach Dang street is the lowest area in Hoi An. Every night, water rises and floods a whole of the road.
The other side of Hoai river is Nguyen Phuc Chu street of An Hoi zone. Numerous restaurants and affordable food stalls focus on this neighborhood. You can come here to enjoy traditional cuisine, drink some beer and seek several souvenirs for yourself.
Hoai river is absolutely glorious at sundown as well. You can take a Hoi An sunset cruise to witness this gorgeous scenery.

Right in the center of An Hoi zone, there is a street concentrated many stores selling lanterns.
Still on this neighborhood, there is the Hoi An night market. This market displays for sales a great deal of craft products made of wood, stone and metal with extremely diverse shapes. Jewelry for sale at the market is very delicate that can satisfy for both domestic and oversea travelers.
Hoi An ancient town at night is greatly beautiful, but it is the most stunning when the atmosphere is silent at mid-night, no tourists, no restaurants. At that time, Hoi An just truly returns its originally ancient and taciturn appearance. However, to admire this scene, you have to stay up late at 1-2am.
