Located in the North of Ha Giang province – North Vietnam, Dong Van karst plateau Geopark consists of four districts, Yen Minh, Quan Ba, Meo Vac and Dong Van. The karst plateau is formed from at least 80% limestone and many fossils of ancient creatures species from 400 - 600 million years ago. Thanks to this special formation, the plateau’s scenery is highly original. Here are a 10 adorable sights must-seen in this Global Geopark. Craggy Bac Sum pass twisting around mountains is covered in mist year-round that makes visibility limited. That big challenge is the first highlight in the adventure to Ha Giang. The route is related to the rhythm "Dốc Bắc Sum, hùm Cán Tỷ, phỉ Đồng Văn", which means “Bắc Sum pass, Cán Tý tiger, Đồng Văn bandit”. Fairy Twin Mountain, as Quan Ba’s famous spot, is located beside 4C Highway to Dong Van and roughly 40km from Ha Giang. To see the panorama of Twin Mountain from a high position, let climb to the watch-place. Next place name is Yen Minh pine forest, barely 100km from Ha Giang city. With immense, straight pine lines spread to even roadsides and cover all the mountains, it will be an ideal photographing spot. Passing over Yen Minh then Pho Cao, travelers will reach Lung Cam valley surrounded by mountains and jungles. This area features a specifically ancient “trình tường” house of H’mong tribe (“trình tường” is a kind of dwelling featuring thick soil walls and thatched roof) based on the rock plateau. The house is just the setting of the renowned Vietnamese movie “The story of Pao”. Stunning buckwheat flower fields and traditional houses make the valley actually alluring. H’Mong King Palace, aka Vuong Family Vestige is a must-see situated in Sa Phin valley. This site is a highlight of this vast cat-ear shaped rock region thanks to its original architectural style. Layered rock formations and winding roads in Ma Le ward will make travelers astonished by beauty of the national frontier. This area has the way leading to the northernmost point based in Lung Cu ward. By climbing over hundreds of stairs to Mount Long Son summit (the Dragon mountain), it’s possible to contemplate entirely imposing mountain scenery of the vicinity. Dong Van old quarter is sited in the center of a valley enclosed by karst mountains. With ancient and taciturn features imbued in especially cultural colors of Ha Giang rock plateau, this spot should not be missed. Dong Van rotating market is held in Sunday mornings every week, sited adjacent right the old quarter. Reveal the market, exchange culture with colorful ethnic minorities and don’t forget to taste locally rustic foods here. As a part of Happiness Road, Ma Pi Leng pass, which links between Dong Van and Meo Vac town, is the top beautiful and well-known section in this rock plateau. Riding and chilling out among majesty space, being dazed by hairpin turns, and feeling creep as one side is towering cliffs while the other side is deep chasms and Nho Que river, will be amazing experiences.
